Abner was born on December 28th, 1792.  Abner's father was John Barlow and his mother was Phoebe Bolton.  His paternal grandparents were John Barlow and Hannah Savage.  He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Nathan, Joel, Mahlon, Rebecca and Phoebe.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
