John was born on August 12th, 1790.  John's father was John Barlow and his mother was Phoebe Bolton.  His paternal grandparents were John Barlow and Hannah Savage.  He had three brothers and three sisters, named Abner, Nathan, Joel, Mahlon, Rebecca and Phoebe.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 56 on April 23rd, 1847.
